Through the Test it campaign, Innoviris wants to give innovators the chance to develop and test their products, solutions and concepts and try them out with end users.

The applied research and innovation projects are carried out in living labs, in which researchers, users and a platform of users are involved.

2017 Edition

Brussels Smart Mobility Challenge

The objective of the 'Smart Mobility Challenge’ is to develop an efficient mobility management based on existing structures by optimising interaction, connectivity and collaboration. The call is based on two important aspects:  the collaboration of different actors and the creaton of specific spaces devoted to experimentation and innovation.

In the context of this call, innovative techniques and processes are applied to real Smart Mobility projects. These techniques and processes, tested and improved via the Living Labs projects, can subsequently be applied at a larger scale, with the aim of offering affordable solutions for Smart Mobility in the Brussels-Capital Region.

In short: the main objective of each Living Lab is to develop, test and implement Smart Mobility solutions which address the specific mobility challenges Brussels faces.

The Brussels entities which may submit an application to Innoviris in the context of this call are:

  • enterprises whose place of business is established in the Brussels-Capital Region

  • research institutes (universities, university colleges and collective research centres) in the Brussels-Capital Region

  • non-profit organisations whose place of business is established in the Brussels-Capital Region

  • regional and municipal authorities of the Brussels Capital Region concerned by the Smart Mobility Challenge

The selection procedure of the projects consists of two phases:

  • a first call for project outlines, and a demand for the setup of a project if necessary, for December 15, 2017

  • a second call for the selected project outlines, for the submission of a full proposal, for May 18, 2018

The application form and the annexes (available in the toolbox of the French or Dutch version of the website) must be submitted in one copy, printed on the front and back, to the following address:

If the applicant effectively cooperates with one (or more) other research institutes, non-profit organisations or enterprises to execute the project, the grant can be increased by 15% to a maximum of 80%. Effective cooperation is a partnership in which the actors:

  • participate in the conceptualisation of the project together

  • contribute together to the development of the project and

  • share the risks and results

Subcontracting shall not be considered as effective cooperation and does therefore not apply for an increase of the grant.

As the projects of this Living Lab Retrofit call must necessarily be carried out in effective cooperation, the grants for the enterprises in the Living Labs are mentioned in the "experimental development in effective cooperation" column.
